G'day! Before you download your template, you need to know your Backset. This is the most important measurement in the locksmithing world.
Measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the handle or keyhole.
Which one do you have?
- 35mm or 45mm: Usually found on narrow-style aluminum doors (like the Philips DDL615).
- 60mm: The standard Aussie residential backset (most Lockwood and Yale deadbolts).
- 70mm: Common on commercial doors or older Aussie homes.
- 127mm: The "Long Reach"—usually found on heavy commercial mortice locks (like the Lockwood 3770).
Mate's Tip: If you are measuring a door that already has a hole, measure from the edge of the door to the exact center of the hole. If you're between sizes, you've likely got a 60mm or 70mm adjustable latch.
